And yet, as you have readily seen, we still stand ready to inundate new members with our personal advice.
Only 3 topic's?
count again.... and those you choose most individuals have shallow depth of any real experience on the topic's .
DIY and the average forum member are why there are rare members that have experience and are professionals in the automotive industry are seldom joining forums and participating in threads to help members. You ask most any why they don't participate, and they will tell you the same answer. Members are going to believe what they want and find what they think is correct on the internet or follow what the majority says is correct. Oh and most forum members, DIY are all naturally experts.
I may fall into the category of not being diplomatic. Frankly as they say I don't give a Rats "tail" . I am this way ITRW (in the real world) as Iam on forums. I have stated in my own projects you DONT have to believe anything I say or do however if you call me wrong on something you had better have all your facts and empirical Data to support your challenge!
My first growth out of DIY .... when I was a teen and street racing I had a 55 Chevy with a RAT motor. I would have several engine torn down cleaned all the parts, labeled and boxed them up. No one ever told me you cant rebuild engine with used parts that way! If forums were around back, then as a DIY I would claim your could. My engine ran strong for a few weeks with all the mixed used parts. I knew the engine blew because I drove them hard and not the fact how I rebuilt the engine. LOL Then I started attending trade school and learned.... ops! LOL I think you get my point?
Well now lets see how many members I have offended with this response?

I'm offended that you think other members would be offended

Three is the number and the number is three, thou shall not count two unless followed by three and five is right out (according to Monty Python anyway).

Back to oil filling or filling anything for that matter.
Any type of measuring system/tool to annotate a full mark is there for a specific reason.
While anyone can certainly go above or below a measuring mark it goes against the principle of the reason the mark is there in the first place.
I'm fairly certain most people would not go over the amount for an insulin injection, float level on a home heating oil tank, or the water level in a boiler.
I know measuring out too much vermouth can certainly kill a martini.

Now to tackle cleaning my muddy CX-5 floor mats before the next snow arrives and I have to do it all again.

Here is what one of them suggested for those that are having trouble reading their dip stick oil level.

After filling your oil you can adjust it to the newest full mark and not worry about how to read a factory dip stick any longer. hahahaha!

I am just glad I came here for advice. You guys have saved me. I was just going to put some used spark plugs from my old 1968 428CJ Mustang in with an excessive amount of the thread locker below (what could that hurt? It’s non toxic?) using a two foot breaker bar pulling as hard as I could. I realize now that would have caused mayhem.

And, the proper amount of vermouth is to picture it in your minds eye while pouring the gin over blue cheese or anchovy olives. You have to stuff the olives yourself. Store bought ones are IMHO

All kidding aside, I asked what people thought, and they told me. It is my job to decide what I will do and what is within my comfort zone. I really do appreciate the input
