Default Oil Pressure Switch (again, sorry!)

I bought my first Mazda in April, a 2.2D 2015. It’s really luxurious to drive, I can see why people like them!

I bought it from a garage 40 miles away, though, and due to an oil pressure warning I had to pay £150 to have it towed there for warranty work. They didn’t fix it, so now I’m facing another towing fee. This could cost a fortune, how many times will I need to do this?!

The oil level was always good. I’m just wondering if I should replace the Oil Pressure sensor myself? I’ve not got great health but maybe I can do that on ramps if it’s easy to reach. Is it worth a try?

I’ve already replaced the battery 😖 and I’m feeling really let down.

Cheers
Andy

The Mazda Diesel engines tend to get plagued with issues similiar to what you're describing. If you search in the forum there may be other theads that discuss the issue.

What diagnostic's have been carried out to condemn the oil pressure switch? I can't remember ever replacing a oil pressure switch in a SH diesel engine.

The only indication there is of a problem is the warning message itself.

Needless to say the oil level is spot on.

Also, it’s only appeared twice - both times at about 70mph.

You need to get the oil pressure tested.

Good point, I’ll get a mechanic to do that first, thanks.

Default Might not be the sensor?

I just drove it the short journey home and I got a different warning. Doubt it’s the sensor now, but I’m no expert.

In case it helps anyone my issue seems to have been unrelated to the sensor.

I didn’t fully catch it, but there was somewhere where the oil was thick and old and was spurting into the engine. Once that area was cleaned it seemed to be okay. Not much help, but it wasn’t the sensor.
