Default Possible transmission fault?

I have a 2013 CX-5 2.2L Grand Touring Diesel and have owned it for 2 years and it now has 107,000k on it and have had no problems at all with this car so far.

Then yesterday i slightly scrubbed the tyre against the curb as i was parking and then the next time i started it the engine light, tyre light and TCMS light all came on. When i drove it home it started lurching in low gears and it seemed like the transmission was playing up.

I tried to do the reset of the tyre warning light and TCMS light but that didn’t work and i also tried reconnecting the battery to try and reset the computer but that made no difference.

It starts fine but those 3 lights are still on and the transmission is still slipping/lurching in lower gears.

What to do?

Needs to be scanned for fault codes.

Going by experience, and purely a guess, ( take this with a grain of salt) Exhaust Gas Pressure sensor is common on these engines.

If you get P0471 or P0472 or P0471, there is a 10yr 200,000km warranty extension.

Thumbs up

Guess what? You are 100% correct.

That's exactly what it was and the Mazda dealership created a technical case by sending the error codes to Mazda and they have now replaced the Exhaust Gas Pressure sensor and reset the DPF and something else I didn't catch. They are doing one more test drive tmrw morning but it sounds like they knew all about the fault and the symptoms were identical to what they had documented. They even watched a video of another 2013 Mazda CX5 with the same problem experiencing the same issues.

I've lost count of the number of these sensors I've replaced. There has been at least 5 different supersessions of this part since 2012.

Yes after some research i can see it's been a common, well known problem since 2014.

So why wasn't this included in the Mazda recall?

Because its not regarded to be serious. Plus they have put the extended warranty on it instead.
