Question about RUST on a CPO CX-5.
New owner of a CPO'D 2016 CX-5, 30,xxx miles. The vehicle fit our requirements, low miles and the price was right. Anyway, we gave the car a good look at the dealership and the test drove it, no issues. Now, I admit it, I am far from mechanically inclined, so i don't know what to look for. With that being said, today my wife got a branch stuck underneath it and I went underneath the car for the first time and notices some rust on the under carriage. Have to be honest, it was more than I expected. Now, I did a quick search and there was another member here who posted the same issue and he included pics. and the response was that this is perfectly normal for living in the Northeast. So, my question, I assume rust underneath is normal, BUT what can I do to treat this issue at this point. Thank you!
PS: On a side note, absolutely love driving this car!

Factory undercoating used to be a standard offering on cars sold in the north-east. I have pressure washed, wire brushed and applied rusty metal primer to used cars up north to preserve the undercarriages. The undercoat in spray cans at the auto stores doesn't stick real well because it dries too fast as it's being propelled. Some body shops do rust abatement/undercoating.
