Default Red light flashing on fob

Hello,
hooing someone on here can help me.

Spare key

My fob. The only I received with my car

The key that won’t come out of ignition, but now is in the lock position and will not move so I can start it
I just recently purchased a 2006 Mazda CX five and I bought it from an auction sale of a gentleman who just passed away. When I picked up the car, it had a key in it or something like that and I couldn’t get it out, but the car started and drove fine so I just left it in there. I also have a replacement fob, which is a little square Box with the key that pulls out at the bottom anyways that fob is flashing red at the top left-hand corner and will not do anything like it is dead. It worked a week ago but I had to push the buttons continually. don’t know what that means but when I jumped in the car the other night to start it, it would not move off of the lock position of the ignition, so the key is in it and it’s stuck at lock in other words I couldn’t turn it on a dead battery or what could it be thank you so much, Brenda

Mazda CX-5 was not made until 2012 do you have 2016 or another year?
Anyway, the Mazda fob you have, was not made for the CX-5.
However they all have batteries, and you should first try replacing the fob battery.
Attached video shows how and what battery you need.

Default My fob is dead on my 2006 MX5, my key is stuck in the lock position

Thank you for your note, my car is a 2006.
My replacement fob is dead battery, would this prevent the car from starting? My key is stuck in the ignition on the LOCK setting.

This is the CX-5 area of the forum.
Your original post did not indicate you had a MX 5.
Yes, if the fob battery is dead the car won't start, it's part of the anti-theft system.
You need to replace the fob battery as per the video instructions or have someone who knows how do it.
