Just my 2¢ but there are 'seat belt extenders' for Mazda on e-bay. They not only
stop the annoying chimes it allows the use of cruise control with out the belts hooked up.

I was able to eliminate the warning on my 2021 by extracting one of the two wires going from the seat-belt buckle to the large connector beneath the seat using a terminal pin extraction tool. You just need to break the circuit and the warning chime goes away.

I did disconnect the battery first as I believe you are dealing with the same connector that the air bag utilizes.
Don't do this if you're not comfortable dealing with automotive electrical systems!

I do wear my seat belt but I cannot stand dealing with that chime when I just want to pull my car out of the garage to wash it.

Cool

Good job guys, resurrecting a five-year-old thread. Do comments about 2021 vehicles help the OP’s 2017 CX? Insulting zombie threads live!

The only wiring diagram that I had to work with was from the Mazda-CX-5-KE-2012-2017-Workshop-Manual. They're still using a simple SPST switch that opens when the belt is inserted into the buckle.
