Question Unknown sensor on a 2018 CX-5...

2018 CX-5 GT - Anyone know what this sensor is under the steering wheel? The service center for my local dealership has no idea ... says it's aftermarket.

Looks aftermarket to me. Have you tried tracing the wiring?

Anything like that screwed to the valence panel is aftermarket. Factory would have been some sort of snap fit.

Bought the CX-5 CPO last year; paperwork says the CX-5 was leased to a rental company from 2018-2021. This give a clue what it could be?

Traced the cables to this box and found this forum with a similar question. Think it is an alarm system installed by the rental company.

Prosvr, com Pursuit makes stolen vehicle recovery devices; depending on the model you *may* be able to transfer the service to your name if you desired.
