Default USB ports switched or I switched with ignition?

I have a 2016.5 Mazda CX5 GT. Are both USB ports below the climate control system switched with the ignition or unswitched to provide power even when the ignition is off? Or, is 1 switched and the other unswitched? Please reference upper USB port or lower USB port.

Both USB ports are powered off the ignition.

ie : ignition on - USB ports on. Ignition off - USB ports off

Keep in mind that the OEM usb ports do not provide, in most cases, the required amount of current to charge most phones properly.

What is the current they provide?
What about the replacements with CarPlay, which I had installed last week? The dealer told my wife to use the one with the phone symbol rather than the other one, or to use the 12v port in the console if just charging. But if the current is too low for charging, then what's the point?

USB output is 5v at about 1 amp. They will charge a phone, just very slowly.

The Upgraded USB port for Apple carplay / Android auto is 2.1 amp.

You didn't say anything about having Car Play in your original post. In this case, never mind what I said. grim_reaper is correct.

Thanks grim_reaper and Conrad 16.5!
No worries...I was curious about the output on the original ports as well as the new ones with AA/CP.

I use the cigarette lighter outlet to charge my phone. It works fine.
