Default Using old wheels with 50 offset on new CX-5

I have a 2023 Mazda CX-5 GT

I am in the market for a used set of 17 inch Mazda alloys/mags for winter use. Really hard to find a set off current generation CX-5 but many available off older Cx-5's. My concern is the older CX-5's (IE 2016) had wheel with an offset of 50 and my new one uses wheel with an offset of 45. So wheels will be 5 mm closer to suspension and brakes. Wheels are 17 by 7.

I was wondering if someone out there has actually used older wheels with the 50 offset on a current CX-5 (2019 to 2023) successfully with no issues.

I have tried to get answers on this from someone that has done it with no luck. Even my dealer could not give me 100% assurance it would work.

Thanks

I don't have an answer for you, but I can tell you:
Using wheels not designed for the vehicle you put them on, alter all kinds of engineering specifications, especially handling.

Which is exactly why I stick with the ones made for the same generation, and in my case whatever rims come with the vehicle...

Thanks. I know I posted here at least once before so I am not sure why it is showing 1 post. This is our 3rd Mazda. We had a GLC back in early 90's. Not sure what year that car was. Then we had a 2005 Mazda 3 sport. Most reliable car I have ever owned. Our friends are still driving it.

Now a new 2023 Mazda CX-5 GT. Loving it !!!!

Many wheel sites list wheels with a 50 offset as an option for the 2023 CX-5. This and the fact that the difference is quite minor leads me to think that it will work. But I will not move forward buying a use set of Mazda alloys until I can get a CX-5 owner to confirm they have used them without issue.

This set of 17 inchers is for winter use. So far the few sets I have found for sale from current gen include the tires. Most have All Season which I do not need and others are overpriced with winters tires at the end of their life. I just want the wheels and plan to buy a new set of Blizzaks.

Smile Probably fine

5mm is ~ .2 inches. (Less than a 1/4 inch). Should be fine.

We it turns out Canadian Tire has some RSSW Mayfair alloys on sale. I ordered a set for pick-up later today. Cost me $124 each.

https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/r...p.1417048.html

They are hub centric, winter ready and have the correct offset of 45. So the fit should be perfect without any issues. The nice thing as well is if I ever bang one up I could order another. I would have ordered 5 today just to be safe but I got the last 4 they had.

The RSSW wheels seems to get good reviews. No worried about offset issues!!!!
