Will there be a new CX5 this year?

[QUOTE=chickdr19;190785]Interestingly in the article you linked there was this paragraph about the next generation CX-5:
Major mechanical changes won’t come before the expected model-year-2023 launch of the second-generation CX-5. Even then, as Mazda takes the next-gen CX-9 and Mazda 6 midsize sedan upmarket with rear-drive-based engineering and inline-six-cylinder engines, the CX-5 will hew to compact-crossover tradition: a front-wheel-drive-based platform and transverse-mounted four-cylinder engines.
I was wondering about that also. I keep seeing mention of a CX-50 but I'm unsure if that's in addition to the CX-5 or a replacement. Keeping with the idea of the CX-30 being a larger version of the CX-3 I could see a CX-50 being a higher beefed up CX-5 with RWD I suppose. With the current CX-5 being their top seller it seems crazy they'd change it *that* much.

I had thought the CX-3 was built on the Mazda2 platform, whereas the CX-30 is built on the new Mazda3 global platform.
