Wind noise?
#4
I've found wind noise to be minimal cruising at the typical 70-80mph around here. But sensativity to crosswinds is significant at freeway speeds.

issue solved?
Upon inspection at the dealership, A plastic trim piece was slightly warped and not sitting flush against the window. The turbulence caused the hiss emanating from that area.
The piece is vertical and borders the fixed and movable windows on the rear passenger doors. The tolerance was about 2x what it should be. They ordered the part and it's on it's way for a future service appointment.

Bummer, the trim piece didn't solve the issue.
Uh Oh. It's officially turning into an obsession. I'll have to isolate the issue myself. I believe it can be fixed because the other door doesn't do it. I'll report back when I have something figured out.

Can we assume it's all fixed now?

Not gone but making progress
I've improved the noise in the worst area by shimming under a distorted area under the door gasket. Maybe they are having tolerance or quality control issues with the early gaskets? The gaskets are critical and very sensitive to geometry problems when compressed.
I'll ask the dealer to change all the door gaskets if I am not satisfied with the noise levels. I admit I'm a head case about things like this.

I found them at a dealership online.

Just installed this morn. They look killer and are like smoked glass. It strikes me how low of a profile they have. Looks to me like there was a lot of wind tunnel testing done, which I think the customers will appreciate.
Sound-wise, I'm guessing 0.5-1 dB improvement across the frequency range. As a reference, a CX-5 is 3-4 dB quieter than a 3 hatch.
The install isn't bad but it absolutely needs to be right the first time. Take your time!! I recommend raising the window into it's fully closed position before doing the final adhesive press.
