Does the wrench light on a 17 CX-5 mean anything else except for go get an oil change? Changed oil in my wife's car in June 22 at 58,046 miles and its came on again today in Sep 22 at 58,545…so clearly it's not time for an oil change again. In some of my other cars the wrench is really the engine trouble light and means a myriad of possible things but looking on the web it looks like on Mazda it's only for scheduled maintenance…so I figured I would ask and see if it really needs a trip to the dealer or just reset. I'll stick my code reader on it tomorrow and check for codes but she's off in the car right now so I can't do. that.

Dealer would have s/ware to update this when they change oil. You can deactivate the Service Reminder light yourself- try that

Someone (human physically ) set a reminder for a service that's all it is on your MAZDA. Go to your "OWNERS MANUAL" and read about the functions of your dash. Thats what it is given to you for not to toss in the glove box. LOL

It was estimated that 93% of new owners of a vehicle never read the complete owners manuals.

I am glad that is not the case with commercial or private piolets.

 

So what you are suggesting is dealers Technicians use hand lotion and have a soft wear touch when they manually reset as a curtesy and set or re- set the owners service reminders.

 

Thanks all…solved it. No need to be rude about reading the manual…already did that but the specific question I asked wasn't answered therein. On further research…it seems that the oil and tire rotation alerts were reset when the oil was changed but not the generic maintenance one. Since the mileage for that one was the same as the oil/tires was…and the date for the generic was 10 days out that's why it came on. Reset it since I've got 4500 miles until oil is due.
