2.3L Turbo - Oil Getting Dark?
Hasanyone noticed the oil in their CX-7 getting dark very quickly? I pulled the dipstick today on my Speed 3and it was black after less than 3,000 miles (Mobil 1). It was dark enough at the 5,000 mile change that the dealer said that if it looked the same at the 10,000 mile change they would recommend shorter intervals. I'm positive that the problem is fuel dilution that both darkens and thins the oil and I'm not really happy about either. Have you noticed this same thing? Also, does your dipstick smell like fuel? This seems to be a DISI issue from the research that I have done.

I change oil every 3,000 miles anyway.
But if you are not letting the turbo cool down when you get to a destination and just switch it off the oil in the turbo will cook.
This might be why you are seeing this. I am not seeing overly dark oil in mine.

I can tell you that you should be changing your oil every 3K due to the temp that the turbo gets (1500'). You should either invest in a turbo timer or just let you car run for 15 to 20 seconds after driving it to let the oil cool down so it does not bake inside of the turbo.
