2011 Mazda cx7 how long to turbos last
I just joined and would like to say hello to all you!
I'm interested in purchasing a 2011 cx7 with 97,000 miles..I've read they have turbo issues.. amongst you Mazda people do you know if it's real widespread? Also read 2 different articles.. 1 stating the turbos only usually last 100,000 miles and the other saying they last 150,000 miles.. if it's 150,000 then I don't care as I drive about 3500 miles a year. Any input would be appreciated

The turbo is oil cooled..these 4 cylinder engines with turbo get really hot and produce a lot of carbon build up. not changing the oil causes gunk which is bad for the oil cooled turbo. the spinning blower at 240,000 rpm gets hot and blows the seal out and sends oil into the air intake and smoke out the tail pipe. Just change the oil every 3000 miles. Use a oil additive like mystery marvel to gently clean the carbon build up.

Cx7 turbo reliabilty .

- We hav 3 cx7's . 07 08 2.3lt and a 10 deisel. The biggest problem is the supply line to the turbo is to small and runs very close to the exaust mainfold, I have changed all of ours to Dash 6 aeroquip 8mm id hose, this hose is designed for 200 psi and has a stainless wrap. Rerouted the line along the sump and come into the turbo from the fire wall side, now this is a big job, engine trans K frame out of the car, takes me 73 minutes to acheive this now arond 2hrs to refit, what I have learnt with the cx7 is if you need to do any sort of major work on the them drop the k frame.
- Now 2.3 lt turbo is thirsty on a good day 360 to 400 kms to empty, ours are high km cars now 212000 / 289000 kms / the Deisel is at 322000 , I have reflashed the 08 with a program for versatune ,it picked up 56 kws and is running 11 lts to the 100 around town and 8.2 highway as against 23lts per 100 in factory trim
- Trans wise, bullet proof , engine wise, tuff but in saying that , I run a Nulon deisel engine additive , its basically a liquid teflon
- Timing chains , none of ours have been changed yet, I do have the cam timing kit to reset the the chain strech , fit a new tensioner and the cam friction washers which has been done on both 2.3 turbo's,
- I'm 60 , deisel mechanic, I run 2 Austral coaches a couple of trucks, and can do the work myself.
- Mazda say $1800/ 2400 for a turbo , turbo warehouse in Wetherall park in Sydney , same turbo same part number $240 , o2 sensors genuine $280 each , Bosch $78 , all I can say is they are reliable, Mazda will rip you blind if you have to use them.
- I had a mate ring a week ago and was quoted $10675.89 from Mazda to replace a 2.3 in his 08 cx7. I rebuilt a spare 2.3 for myself with bigger rods, better pistons to take 500+ hp remove the counter balance shafts and rebalanced the crank and rotating assembly , reassemble it for $2400
