Is the Airconditioning effective?

Is the Airconditioning effective?
hi again all
could anyone living in warm/hot areas let me know how the Climate Control is on the CX7?
Is it good at cooling down the cabin on a hot day?
Here we get temps in summer around 90-100F !!
thanks

RE: Is the Airconditioning effective?
I do not have the climate control, but my air conditioning has been fine so far...
In the 90's
It does blow hot air when you fire the car up for a few moments. But then once moving it works quite well

RE: Is the Airconditioning effective?
I can tell you this...I live in Vegas and at mid-day my Mazda Five cannot even make my ride to get lunch comfy. In the morning or any temp under 100, it'll get damn frosty in the front seats, but the back passengers suffer. (i can't imagine what it'd be like in the back back 2 jump seats...)
It's my opinion that the A/C system in most mazda's (similar design, and same compressor on nearly all 2.3's) is lacking at best.
Tint the windows, vent them when parked in the sun, and deal with it during the hot months? That's exactly what i'm doing, and after having a car with NO air conditioning for 2 years in vegas, i'm happy to have ANY.
Hope this helps...

The a/c in ours is mostly effective (we have the black leather interior, which makes it hotter) but I really wish it had a 5 on the fan speed. I drive a '99 Pontiac Grand Am, and it has far surperior air imo.

RE: Is the Airconditioning effective?
No auto manufacturer makes their airconditioner systems. They buy them from A/C manufacturers. The bigger the area to cool the longer it takes to cool it as recirculate is the coldest setting it has to pull the hot air from the cabin through the evaporator til it is all cooled. There are several variables like dark interior, but the biggest factor is condensor cooling efficiency. The manufacturer chooses the cooling fans and positioning of the condensor etc. That said 134a just plain sucks. It runs at much higher pressure therefore does not cool as well. Pressure = heat so the freon is hotter before it is turned into a gasious state and tossed into the evaporator. On the old R12 systems i saw idle high side pressures of 150 psi normally and they threw snowballs out the vents. On 134a systems i see 225 and 250 psi which is bad bad. Generally the high side pressure will be 100 psi over the outside temp on a 134a system,so the hotter it is outside the less efficient the system is. It is just the nature of the beast we created to protect the planet. Manufacturers could do a better job designing for the retrofit though.

RE: Is the Airconditioning effective?
I have encounted a problem with my A/C
When driving slowly in over 100 Deg F temp the vents started blowing 120ish deg air out the vents.
This condition lasted until we were moving at 70 mph for some time before the A/C started working again.
TSB 07-004/07
Affecting cars older than JM3ER****7*135294 are affected.
Frost Sensor error shutting off A/C.
Covered by dealer replacing unit with newer designed one.
