Default Boost vs FE...

Has anyone "wired" their wastegate fully open in order to determine the FE that might be attained absent the quick onset of boost..??

Or has anyone wired the wastegate fully open and milled the head to improve off-boost FE. A DFI engine can generally run with a compression ratio of 12:1 off-boost.

Lastly what about a modification that delays the onset of boost, wastegate held open, until the throttle is opened beyond 2/3's...??

It would also be nice if Mazda were to combine some of the design aspects of the Millennia S and the CX-7. 15-16:1 native cylinder compression ratio reduced to an effective 12:1 via delayed intake valve closing when off-boost.

Then further reduced, ~10:1, as boost climbs.

Substantially improved FE with no loss in performance in the Atkinson cycle "off-boost" and then transition to Miller cycle as boost rises.

50% improvement in highway MPG..??
