New CX 7 purchase
Just got my CX7 AWD grand touring. Will be interested in finding a Turbo Timer, boost controller, K&N filter for it. Was wondering if anyone has heard of Mazda voiding entire warranty if you put a 2" Drawtite receiver hitch on? The Mazda hitch is only a 1 1/4" receiver. All my stingers are 2" and I pull only 2,000lbs. The Drawtite tech said you can't control what a customer will do with a 1 1/4" or a 2", it makes no difference. You could pull a 3500 lb load with a 1 1/4" on if you wanted to and be overrated but this wouldn't void warranty. The hitch in itself can't void a warranty. There are two wiring harness's needed to do a complete trailer wiring job. One comes with the mazda hitch but it also has its own part number which is listed in the other harness's instructions. One is wiring from vehicle wiring to a wire type plug, and the other is from there down to the trailer 4 prong flat plug. Mazda said you can't get the part with the 4 prong plug seperately even though it has its own part number.

The hitch won't void the warranty unless the problem is related to the hitch. As for the parts, the Cx-7 is new, those will take time. In th emean time you can measure your filter and go to an auto parts stare and pick up a K&N drop-in filter of the same size and, well, drop it in. Turbo timers and boost controllers can be found at our sponser "Tunerfix's" site. www.tunerfix.com Godd luck with the Cx-7 and enjoy it.

a turbo timer let the car idle for 5 minutes or so then turns the engine off (you set the time) after you turn the key to off and walk away. It lets the hot oil drain from the turbos and circulated through the engine and it greatly increses turbine spindle life. It's a reliability and resale value mod no performance. also the filter increases MPG and maybe 4 or 5 horses. Probably not enough to feel, but it helps in the long run and drop ins cost very little maybe $30 to $70.

The timer is to keep the vehicle running for a preset time after you stop to cool and let spin down the turbo. This enables you to not have to sit there and wait 30 sec to 3 minutes. And it keeps you from forgetting to do this. Extends turbo life immensly.

Thanks for the info. gang....I really appreciate it. I am kinda negotiating on my RX 8 with two dealers on my trade...if we can't meet close enough I will wait till spring and they know that. The trade price is more important at this point. Anyway, thanks and I am hoping to join the CX7 owner ranks soon. I might do a K&N Filter...1-2 mpg more is good to me if i can get it! Wendy
