Question Takes forever for car to cool off

Hi there!

I have a 2010 Mazda CX-7 AWD. On warm sunny days, its very hard for my car to cool off. It will blow air which is neither cold or warm. In the evening when there is no sun, its cooler but not cold. My car is black with black interior so I am not sure if that affects it too as it attracts more heat. I have the basic package so the settings are standard (A/C, Circulation, Defrost, etc.)

So my question is.. Is there anything I can do to improve the A/C performance? Or do I actually have to get it checked out?

Would greatly appreciate any feedback!

Kasia

There is a service bulletin that addresses the issue. It covers 2010-2012 CX-7 with insufficient cooling concerns. Unfortunately, your 2010 is out of warranty and it is not an inexpensive fix to pay for out of pocket.

Have you inspected the Cabin Air Filter recently? The only other item I can think of is to install window visors. Weather Tech and VentVisor both make excellent products. They allow you to leave the windows open about and inch to keep heat from building up in the car, and keep rain out at the same time.

Thanks for the feedback! We took her to the shop and it turns out that it was the A/C compressor... we have warranty so we only have to pay the deductible (without it would have been over 800 not including labor)

Glad to hear. We had a handful of problems with the black on black cars cooling off in the high heat and humidity. Mazda reworked the vents in late '12 and the patch was blocking all the lost air flow thru the condenser and a duct re-work. Good times were had by all.
