2012 CX9 Coolant flush
#11
Should my mechanic have been able to remove ALL of the coolant from my 2012 CX9 during the coolant flush? The reason I ask is that he said he could only remove 6 qts. of the 12.2 qts. that are in the cooling system. (Maybe he didn't want to deal with all the hoses). And when I checked the dealer records from 4 years ago, they indicated only one 'unit' of coolant was added. I don't know what their 'unit' was. Maybe it was just one gallon - 4 qts. - of coolant. Or the full 12.2 qts. I don't know. thanks
While yer at it (and assuming it is hydraulic), drain (suction out) & fill the P/S sump every 10K. EZ peasy.
ALWAYS make sure to use Mazda specific fluids (I use Prestone)
(Your opinions, though they may differ -and they will, are always welcome).

Prestone makes 22 different antifreeze coolants for engine brands and years. Our Mazdas take the Asian Vehicles Green product. But, check, there might be some differences for different years. Other brands of suitable antifreeze coolants work just as well as long as the correct formulation is used. The different metals in engines of various makes require different corrosion inhibitors and other chemicals. https://prestone.com/vehicle/?years=...s=6&liters=3.7
I have no idea why, but the same year Ford 3.7 is listed to use the American Vehicle Orange product. Go figure.
