Resolved - 2019 CX-9 Touring A/C Stop Blowing Cold Air
I have a 2019 CX-9 Touring that all of a sudden stop blowing cold air. It just stop blowing cold air instantly a few weeks ago. The blower still works so it's just like a fan. I think it's intermittent because one of the times I took it back to the mechanic the a/c was working again. I took it to my mechanic that I trust (not the dealer) and these are the two repairs they performed that were supposed to fix the problem but didn't. Anyone have any ideas on what the real problem is here? is this a known issue with 2019 Mazda CX-9's? I don't see anything online when I Google it.
- First repair: replaced a/c Compressor, dryer & condenser. recharged system
- second repair: replaced Solar Sensor (BBM5-61-751A)

I hope you no longer trust that mechanic for picking your pocket while replacing the compressor, etc. If he can't diagnose a bad compressor he doesn't deserve your business. He's just guessing and throwing parts at the car. And, a bad compressor would not be intermittent nor would a refrigerant leak. Find a shop that can correctly diagnose your problem. Always be sure the problem is written on the work order. Examine your car when they claim it's fixed. If they haven't fixed the problem listed on the work order, don't pay.
The problem could be anything from the switch on the control panel to the compressor clutch to anything between. It does sound like an electrical glitch. Some switch or relay isn't doing its job. Or maybe something else. A mechanic who knows his job can find it.

Your Mazda should still be under Warranty? Your independent shop appears did not do a proper diagnosis of your HVAC System. I hope you got a guarantee.
The ECU has a lot to do with your HVAC system operating and does require whom ever works on it to have some training to diagnosis it correctly.
The unfortunate thing is that as PTguy said it would appear that the shop improperly diagnosis and guessed at the bad parts to replace. This may have added to more problems in your HVAC system not functioning properly.
Unfortunately there is no FORUM that can advise on a plan how to diagnosis your HVAC system now that to many changes have been made from the original problem and that you likely do not have the diagnostic equipment and told to do the service your self. My suggestion is to return to the shop that serviced it .

It's out of warranty because of mileage. It has 57,619 miles on it unless the a/c system is covered by a different warranty.
I'm going to take it to the dealer to find the problem. I thought about taking it to an a/c shop but I'm just not sure they'll find the issue. Man this sucks. I have a 2nd car so I'm driving my other car while I decide the best action to do next. Thanks for responding.

My 2019 CX-9 Touring A/C seems to be finally fixed by my mechanic. He said it ended up being the outside temp sensor that was faulty. He said once that was replaced and reporting accurate outside temp that my a/c is now working. I've had the car for a few hours and it's working ice cold again. I didn't have to pay anything extra but that's little consolation considering I've already spent hundreds paying for new a/c parts when that wasn't the problem. He had been a good mechanic for me for that past 15 yrs but he didn't have the expertise needed to fix this problem correctly the first time. Hopefully this thread helps someone else avoid paying money unnecessarily to fix this problem correctly the first time.
Thanks for everyone that replied. How can I mark this thread and fixed/resolved?

That sensor is common to be connected to the operation of many platforms dating back to about 2000. Unfortunately many service mechanics don't stay up to date on changes made to many platforms'.
This is why I always recombed that when anyone must go outside the dealer to find a shop that displays the ASE sign and has at least one current ASE mechanic or technician employed. The recertification is testing and generally has all the most updated informatio0n about changes in the automotive servicing and procedures.
This is why I personally and even currently L1 & L2 certified don't work nor give service advise on hybrids ,diesels or Tesla's
