Default CX9 Screen Cracking - Bogus Lease Damage Charges

I have my 3rd CX9 in a row right now, and I'm sick to my stomach and don't even want to drive it because I am so furious at Mazda's / Chase's handling of my last lease turn in (my 2016). The known defect with the navigation screen where the plastic used in manufacture was faulty and the screen developed what look like cracks in it happened to my vehicle (google it). When I turned it in, they charged me almost $1500 to replace it, even though this is a known issue and the vehicle was still under warranty when I turned it in. I have contacted Chase, Mazda USA, my dealer, and no one will help me. I am so incredibly frustrated and no where to turn and don't ever want to step into another Mazda again at the moment. Please someone tell me they dealt with this issue and have a solution. Thanks friends.

@grim_reaper I tried that. They would not help me. Said there was nothing they could do. Mazda finance said they would not help me because the issue was never officially categorized as a recall. I guess Mazda doesn’t have to stand behind anything unless the call it a recall? What infuriated me is the vehicle was still under warranty. All they had to do was ask the dealer. The service department knew about the issue.

We all would first need to have some legal background and then read all your exact contracts.

So ..... my thoughts are.....

I can not personally endorse or recommend from personal experience I can say here is one of many you could find yourself, but I know of one auto club member in our area that had to contract thier service and was pleased with the end result.

Petal, if the dealership's service department knew about the issue, did you request a warranty repair before you returned the car to the lessor? I've never leased a vehicle, but I'd think one would want the car to look as good as possible before returning it to minimize excessive wear & tear charges.

It sounds like Chase was the lessor. Why did you involve Mazda Finance, or actually Mazda Capital Services?

A recall is used for safety related repairs. A cracked display screen caused by known defective material might be a service campaign, more like a limited extension of the factory warranty for only the stated purpose.
