Default 2004 MX5 Check Engine Light

Ok, here's the problem.. I was out driving around today, and after quite the long trip with small stops here and there, I was sitting at a light in Neutral, and it just stalled. The check engine light came on. I tried to push start it no go. I let the car sit for 10 mins, and she started again. Ran about 2 blocks and died while driving. After I stopped again for 10 mins it ran again for a bit. Then died.

Ok I got the code it's P0340: Camshaft Position Sensor.

anyone know where on or/in the motor this is? How easy it is to replace?

Thanks in Advance.

Chris

I can't believe you have this problem with a slightly new car! Do you have gas in the car? I'll try to find out where that part is located so I can help you out. Later.

I deleted the code, and I haven't had it since. I will let you know if it comes back.

Do you know what caused this? I have an 01, and had the exact thing happen.
I'm afraid todrive it now. I kept it from stalling by revving when it started to hesitate.
Just turned around and went home.

Yeah, turned out to be the Crack shaft position sensor.. But after I deleted the code I have not gotten it since and the car has run perfect..

Strange.. I think the sensor was just loose and I just pushed it back in properly. Just be careful as there are two of these sensors and youhave to make sure you find the right one.. They are Bank 1 and Bank 2

Mine as Bank 2 and it was right near the last cylinder on the side of the VC near the firewall.
