25th Anniversary for Miata MX-5
To commemorate the silver anniversary of the MX-5 Miata, Mazda pulled out all the stops by unveiling not only the all-new chassis for its fourth generation, but an exclusive 25th anniversary special edition version of the rear-wheel drive roadster.
Mazda is still in the development stage, but once complete, they will be placing an all-new SkyActiv-chassis on the MX-5 Miata making it smaller, lighter and stronger than the outgoing model.
Mazda has placed the engine closer to the centre of the vehicle for a lower centre of gravity. It will also reduce its weight by 220 pounds to keep its lightweight sports car feel.
The special edition is based on the retractable hardtop model with either manual or automatic transmission, Bilstein shocks, a metallic red paint job with contrasting black roof and an off-white leather interior. Naturally, special badging can be found inside and out to set it apart from the record 940,000 other MX-5s sold to date.
If you can't wait for the upcoming fourth generation roadster, 100 special edition Miatas will be arriving on U.S. shores this spring and 100 vehicles to be sold in Canada and will all be painted in a Soul Red Mica colour symbolizing passion in the pursuit of driving pleasure.
More information is still to come on the next-generation MX-5 Miata with a launch date of next year, but the 25th Anniversary Edition will be priced at $40,925 when it goes on sale this summer.
