Broken headlight bulb socket, clip can't clip
Sorry for the cryptic title, tough to know just how to describe this problem
While changing the low-beam lamp on the passenger side of my 2012 Sport I broke the plastic piece that the retaining clip clicks into to hold the lamp in place.
The clip itself is firmly attached on the hinged side and swings freely but on the other side there is a chunk of that ring now missing. If this helps, if you think of the plastic housing that the lamp slips into the portion from 7 to 9 o'clock broke off and now I can't get the clip to hold the lamp in place.
As I have read in other posts the rubber grommet/boot is pretty tight and holds everything firmly in place, I know it's a less that ideal solution but I also don't want to drop $500-600 on a new headlight assembly for a quarter inch of plastic.
I can't find any separate parts for this piece even though it seems other makes allow for it to be replaced separately...am I missing anything? If I am destined to do yet another bumper removal to replace bulbs do you think this is the kind of thing I can repair, even if it is just driving a screw in someplace?
Thanks in advance,
Matt
