Default hardtop question

im looking for a hardtop for my 99, i saw one for sale, but i think its for the NA model, does anyone know if the hardtop for the 1st gen miatas is compatible to fit with the 2nd gen miatas??? the dealership is selling new ones for $2354 and its primered so im trying to get a cheaper deal than that... thanks-

I doubt a 1st gen NA top would fit your NB. Part numbers for top different for 93, 97, and two different ones for 99 MY. Try this link. Saw some for a lot less.

ANy 90-05 top will fit any 90-05 Miata. The different part numbers reflect the years that had a defroster or not. Also, the defroster wiring harness is differnet from a NA to an NB and will have to be modified. In 2003, Mazda included a headliner in the hardtop.

the 90 to 97 hardtop will fit your 99. but you will be hard pressed to find a heated window in the older tops...i am presenty driving a 99 fitted with a 91 hardtop that fits perfectly- only as i mentioned, the rear window is not heated which is not a big problem in my miata seeing as it has such a great heater that the rear window defrosts after 10 minutes anyway.
