Hello , My son has lost his only key and fob for his mx5. THe auto key technician has spent 3 hrs trying to cut a new key which he succeeded with but he cannot re-programme a new fob. so the immobiliser and alarm are both on. It was towed to a mazda dealership but they also cannot re-programme a key and fob. We now have a genuine mazda key which fits but the fob cannot be re-programmed for the car so we are now stuck with a car that cannot be used. Mazda now say they can only think there is a problem with the ece/pcu and that could need replacing as there is very slight water damage to the box. Car is in very good condition and has worked perfectly until keys and fob were lost. Has anyone any suggestions. Can I disable the immobiliser and alarm? HELP !

 

You will require two new keys for programming. Without going thru the coding process myself, its hard to know what issue they are experiencing. No, you can't disable the immobilizer. Are there any other Mazda Dealerships nearby for a second opinion?
