Default Too hot in cab of Miata Automatic

My 2001 Mazda Miata automatic is excessively hot in the cab. My mechanic said that this is due to the automatic transmission, which sounds fishy to me. Any ideas?

Default RE: Too hot in cab of Miata Automatic

there is a dust boot that keeps outside air from comming into the cab. as i understand it is a fairly common issue as they are made of rubber, subject to high temps and wear out (the rad vents under the car to cool the eng, hot air going around the tranny). if they go heat is the first thing one notices. hope this helps.
