'95 Millenia - Shaking Badly !! Help!!
Mazda Millenia '95 L 180K
I just had a major tune-up with rotor, distributer, plugs and head gasket replacement due to oil leaking.
Now the engine/tranny/something? shakes uncontrollably, vibrating and making a lot of noise especially at low speeds and when starting out. Original mechanic thought it was the transmission. So I took it to AAMCO.
AAMCO says it may be solenoids but tranny is fine. Drives fine through all gear ranges, just makes noise and vibrates badly.
Check Engine Light on: Code 1521 VIRS
Any ideas if solenoids can be causing a shaking noisy irritating drive right after a "supposed tuneup"?

Sounds like you have a considerable missfire problem. Was this same type of thing happening before you had the tune up and I assume valve cover gaskets and not cylinder head gaskets??? If it was not then looks like the tune-up turned into a disaster and they forgot to connect something that needed to be connected. If the intake was off to replace the rear valve cover was the very large vacuum line at the front part of the right valve cover top area reconnected or was it left off??

Yeah.
Actually I was wondering how much you trust your mechanic because it sounds like he may have done something wrong. If he installed the plug wires in the wrong order it would make it shake but shake really hard. If it started with the tune up though, I would look at disconnected parts, plug wires crossed, or just crappy parts.

I appreciate your help. I am going to bite the bullet and take it to the dealer on monday to fix the problem. The mechanic I took it to may not have been very familiar with the Millenia.
