95 Millenia Transmission Kick

95 Millenia Transmission Kick
My '95 mazda millenia's transmission kicks when it goes in from first to second gear (it's an automatic) and does less of a kick going into the other gears. I asked a couple of people and they said that if my transmission has a computer chip on it, that might have gone bad and I need to replace it. If it doesn't have a computer chip that monitors gear change then they said that my transmission might give out soon.
Anybody have any ideas?
Much appreciated.

RE: 95 Millenia Transmission Kick
My 98 non-S has the same problem. It seems to get better after a few miles down the road, but still annoying. I have 120,000 miles and I think it has always done it since I've owned it - 88,000 miles. Does anyone recommend a certain transmission fluid or additive to help?

RE: 95 Millenia Transmission Kick
Check your front engine mount, it is broken. Open the hood and watch the engine. With your foot on the brake, put it in drive and tap the gas pedal, you will see the engine rock towards the firewall and will probably hear the clunk of the metal to metal contact of the mount. If you accelerate slowly the 1 to 2 shift will be quiet, the faster you leave the stop light the louder the clunk will be.
