Heater Fan
The heater fan in my 1998 Millenia makes a noise that sounds like a bearing rattle. It has done this for a long time. It only makes the noise at a low speed and it is not steady. How hard is it to remopve the fan. It dosen't seem to have become any louder or happens any more frequently than when it first started. Could there be something caught in the fan?

RE: Heater Fan
this is a common problem, and an easy remedy. the fan assy is located on the passenger side, above the footwell. you remove the panel right below the glovebox, and you will see the motor/fan. iirc, 3 screws, a plug connector, and a hose, then the unit comes out. you will probably find all kinds of leaves, twigs, bugs, etc in there. the squirrel cage fan should be near snow white, it probably is grey to black, dirty. you can easily remove the cage from the motor, one nut, then clean it. vacuum all around up inside the blower area. go to mazdaworld.org, millenia section, known issues guide, and look for common problems and solutions. in that section is how to clean the blower assembly, with some very good pictures. the later millenias have a pollen filter, which will catch all that junk

RE: Heater Fan
Thanks for the help. It was an easy fix. There were lots of Pine Needles ans tiny sticks in the fan. The dealer told me that it was a difficult job to get at the fan and see what the problem was. So I just turner the radio up louder and decided to wait until it died and deal with it then.
This forum has realy helped me. I am glad I found it.
Thanks again,
