Default Newbie HELP!!!! Brake Noise.

Hi, I just got a 2001 Millenia 2.5 with 58K miles on it. I know I have to change the spark plugs, cables, distributor at about 60. I just changed the air filter. The car seems to run fine overall except for the brakes.
The brake pads have enough meat on them.

Here is what happens:
1. I hear squeeks from the brakes ( when the brakes are not applied ).
2. Sometimes - mostly at lower speeds, when I release the brakes, or have my feet lightly on the brake, (stop n go traffic) I hear a knocking noise, which goes away when I press the brakes again.

What could the problem be?

P.

I jacked up the front left (driver side) wheel, and I can spin the wheel easily when in neutral. When I do the same on the front passenger side, I feel its hard to move the wheels.

I think this may be a stuck caliper - can anyone help. How do I resolve this.

Thanks

Prad

replace the caliper if it is indeed stuck. You could also have warped rotors...quite possible if the brake has been clamped down while you were driving and overheated. If you're going to go through the trouble of taking the brakes apart, you should have the rotors turned down (or replace)and slap some new pads in there.
