Default Purchased 2000 Mazda Millenia

I just purchased a 2000 Mazda Millenia. I have two problems: 1) The CD player will not work. When I insert a CD the player tries to play then kicks CD back out. Is the radio shot? 2) Once I purchased the car I started getting a terrible squeek in the front passenger side. I think I have narrowed it down to the upper control arm. Has anyone else had this problem?

the radio is not shot, but the cd player part is. is it a bose unit? if not, then you can replace it with anything that will fit. or, you can get a head unit off ebay. i suspect that the cd part itself is repairable, but not cost effective. the upper link is a common problem.

Thanks. I have one more question. The alert goes off when the key is left in the ignition but not when the lights are left on. Is this common for the dinger not to go off when the lights are left on?

on our cars(2 99s'), if you leave the key in the ignition and open the door, it will ding. in some states, leaving the car with the key in the ignition is a misdemeanor, and if the car is stolen, you are responsible for any damages incurred.

huh? iow, lots of millenias need to have the upper links changed. dont confuse the two. the one at the very top of the steering knuckle is the upper leading link, ball joint points down, the other end bolts to the frame, 2 12mm wrench size nuts. the lower one is the upper lateral link, ball joint points up. this also adjusts camber. one long bolt. it is fairly common that these will wear out soon. actually, like in most multi link suspensions, all the parts wear faster than on mcpherson strut.

Thank you. I just got my '01 milli yesterday and heard the passenger side squeek. I assumed it was the spring, like in my grand am or my neon. That's why I asked you to elaborate. I can still take it back to the dealer to have it repaired. [sm=smiley20.gif]

It's always been my experience that if I have enough information to take to "them", the better.

I have a 2000... no ding-thing for the lights being left on, they turn themselves off 30 seconds after killing the ignition...
