Temperature dial not working
#11
there are 2 screws on each side of the steering column, hidden by black plastic covers. on the left side, it is the rheostat, remove both covers, and you will see the screws. the left side one is a bit cranky, you have to disconnect it, and you will be puzzled at first. after the screws are out, i start by prying on the far right, where the glovebox starts. if you check ebay, you will see a few of these for sale, and you can then figger out what the entire part that you need to remove looks like. after you pry it, you will then have to disconnect the harness where it plugs into the amp and a couple other places. after that, the entire dash part comes out. when you look at the backside of the dash piece, you will see the screws that hold the unit in. very easy, after doing it, you will wonder why the dealer charges so much labor for this

For anyone having this issue. I just had it last week.
I took the AC control unit out via the instructions in this post.
1. take out radio
2. Take out the arm rest until the cigarette port
3. Take out 2 screws
4. Take the AC unit out
Pop off the panel and then you can see the circuit.
You then just need to unscrew the 2 screws holding the fan or temp dial ( I took out both, just so the 2nd dial doesn't brake any time soon )
There you can see the thing is just held on with 2 molten plastic dips which tend to break after a few years.
I just removed the broken off dib, used some break cleaner to remove the grease next to it and then super glued it in position with some 2 component glue to make it stronger. The broken dibs left a slight hill which helps position it.
Sorry to the person who bought a unit off eBay and sees this easy fix in his emails.
I Hope I could help someone else.
