2001 mpv check engine light-help
Hi. I have a 2001 MPV and my check engine came on. Autozone told me the code for Cooling Fan #2 circuit and the Transmission Park Indicator Sensor were coming up.
Has anyone had this problem before and if so what was needed to fix this?
Thanks.

What code numbers were you getting mknkd88?? I do not see any code for Cooling Fan #2 Circuit?? Also for the Park indicator sensor. The 02-03 MPV had some problems with P0706 trans range circuit open but same repair would not really apply to you as it is a different part number for range sensor.
Code should start with letter "P" and then have four numerical digits.
Sometimes generic scan tools can read the code number right but not the description as the code may be manufacturer specific.

Unfortunately, the guy at AutoZone did not tell me the code.
I forgot to mention that when the check engine light came on the "N D 2" were all lit up on my display. When I reverse only the "R" is lit. But, when I put it in "D" and go for a few seconds the "N" and sometimes the "2" light up.
I will try to get the exact code and maybe you'll be able to help me better.
Thanks.

Well that make sense that the gear indications on the dash are all screwed up. The P0705 is telling you that the TR or Transaxle Range switch circuit has a malfunction of a short circuit. This switch is on the transmission where your gear selector cable would attach to the transmission. It sends a voltage signal along a different wire for each gear to both the instrument cluster and the PCM. PCM cannot understand why the trans is showing to be in two gears at one time and turns on the CEL[:'(]. Good 99% probability that replacement of the TR switch should cure your ails. OE part # is FB02-21-444A. Thats a zero in the part number. Dealer MSRP is $46.70 so should not be too spendy. Can get for a little less at www.onlinemazdaparts.com .There is another member who has the same situation going on at the link below by the way. Even has a pic of the instrument cluster.
