91 MPV transmission problems
The transmission squeals when in park, and in drive or reverse the car does not move. We replaced the filter in the tranny, and that fixed the problem for about 3 days. Then the problem came back. I think the torque converter is the problem, but I don't really know. Does anyone else have any ideas or anything? A torque converter change is $950, and the car really isn't worth that much. So this might be the end for it. Thank you for all your help.

RE: 91 MPV transmission problems
Classic trans failure. The filter clogs with clutch material and starves the pump creating a whining noise and loss of pressure. Replacing the filter gives it pressure again but the filter clogs again quickly. An overhaul is the only cure as well as a new trans cooler as it is contaminated. An aftermarket cooler is the best way to go there.
