Good afternoon. I have a 2004 Mazda MPV. Since about September of last year (2021) the airbag light will come on randomly. It will blink 7 times. Sometimes it will continue, sometimes it goes off. I have taken it to two different auto shops and they can’t diagnose it. Since it doesn’t stay on the whole time, it will go days without coming on and then will come on randomly for days, I feel like it may be a bad connection or a fuse (if they have a fuse?).

I am a military spouse living overseas and my husband has been gone for the last 5 months. We are getting ready to move back stateside and I need to sell my van but I don’t feel comfortable selling it with the airbag light coming on.

So it looks like if it blinks 7 times it is an issue with the passenger side module. There does appear to be a way of testing it as it should be stored in memory if this helps. This is from the shop manual which may or may not be available online.

 

Thank you for the information. I have taken it in so many times but every time I do the light magically stops from the time I leave my van to go inside the auto shop and they say they no code appears.
I was hoping it would be something real easy to fix but it seems impossible at this point unless I take it to a Mazda dealership and Im sure that’s going to cost a lot of yen.

I don’t have the manual but maybe I can Google something with the code information you provided.
