Default mazda is a great company but the MVP is JUNK!!!!!

When they started making the mazda MPV they were great just like most other mazda products. But over the years there MPV has gone to TOTAL CRAP!!!!!! I have a 2003 MPV and it is the WORST vehicle I have ever owned! At this point it has just under 75,000 miles and it has been a money pit since 40,000 miles. gaskets, trany, coils, plugs, TIRES ( it has the nice 17 inch wheels) I AM ON SET 9 (4 tires to a set) , THE EXHAUST WENT TO CRAP AND RUSTED OUT FRONT TO BACK AT 30,000 MILES

I HAVE A 1992 GMC SAFARI WITH 160,000 MILES ON AND IT RUNS 1000% BETTER THEN THIS MAZDA EVER HAS OR EVER WILL. AND FROM READING ALL THE OTHER POSTS ABOUT THE MPV I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT HAS HAD A MILLION AND ONE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR NEWER MPV.

Thats were we are too. We bought it cause of the kids, now im borrowing my mom's camry to get around. unfortuanly we bought this van LOADED with every avalible option they had for it. The body and interior is mint AWSOME! But when it comes to everything else mechanicly it's junk, I think we currently owe approx $17,000 on ours. We have thought of every horrible option to get rid of this thing (gap insurance is great)! I told the hubby next time we go to Indianapolis Im gonna leave it INSIDE the loop with the windows down and keys in it. Hopfully it gets stolen I think next time the Trany goes ( we are on our 3rd trany) we are just gonna let the bank repo it. It sounds bad but we own close to $17,000 still and we have put more then that into it in just repairs and it is still in need of repair, there is something constantly going wrong with it. Fix one thing and another unrelated thing happens. every time something goes wrong it cost a minimum of $150.00. We have thought about selling off for just the loan amount only but the loan is high and the van is a P O S!

Sorry to hear about all your troubles but I have had my MPV for 4 years now and apart from a recent passenger door problem ,all its needed was a battery ,wiper blades,4 tyres ,an Ignition coil pack and leads and servicing costs. It drives like a dream and unless it gives me any problems in the future ,I shall be keeping it

We have a 2003 with 104,000 miles on it. We live in the city and have taken trips of up to 1,000 miles. We have had some minor problems but this minivan drives like no other.

We recently looked at others for sale locally and found many of them with 130,000 to 150,000 and one still running with 218,000 miles.

I would assume mazda sell the same spec MPV around the world. We have lots of MPV's as used imports from Japan. Apart from general servicing they appear to be a really good vehicle. Ive never replaced a trans on them or exhausts. Maybe some of you just have bad luck. Yes the coils can be a issue, but what do you expect with heat sink?
