New (to me) MPV owner
Hello:
Wife and I just purchased a 2004 MPV today.
I wanted to join/read-up the forum prior to our purchase but never got a chance.
The more I read up on teh van, the more it seems the V6 engine isnt the car's strong point. I have read a few threads regarding oil consumption on 2 yr old engines with less than 50K miles.
Can some of the owners with higher milage 3.0 V6 MPVs reply and share exactly how problematic or not the engine really is.
Thank you,
We got an LX with 28K miles, it has DVD, power sliding doors, 17" wheels and towing package.
Just wanted to introduce myself, looking forward to learing all there is to know about the MPV.

RE: New (to me) MPV owner
Hi there, I've just joined the Forum as well. I have a '92 MPV and have 356000K on it. The engine may us e a litre of oil between changes every 5thousK, but not always. I usually will change it before this though. I've found that lately when it's cold that I'm getting some "sticky lifter noise", but fresh oil, and a can of Wynns Lifter Quieter seems to keep everything pretty happy. We've loved our od van, it does lack a bit of power early in the acceleration range, but at cruising speed the V6 seems to have lots of pep still for passing. It cruises at 120K no problem. I'm starting to notice a little tranny slip when going into reverse, but all in all, this little van doesn't owe me a thing! K

We have owned our 2006 MPV for about a year now and have totally loved it. Great gas milage, 26 MPG highway on our trip to Disneyland, and same for our trips to Las Vegas, Yellowstone, Sequoia National Park, and Bryce Canyon . Good power, slightly smaller engine than comparable wagons/minivans but the power is very adequate and gets much better miles per gallon than the comparable wagons/minivans. Perfect size, fits family of six, sufficient storage and just the right size to fit into small parking spaces and great u-turn radius.
