90 mx6 2.2 turbo No spark HELP!!!!
Hi all! I have this vehicle that I bought not running. I has no spark at all. I bought a haynes manual to test the systems. ie: igniter, coil, module ect. Guess what, the book says to take it to a dealer or shop. lol! Really not funny. Does anyone know or have access to the test procedures for this. The cam turns. the timing belt is on correctly. It just has no spark! If I get the test procedures and values I can make this run. It is a pretty nice car and I would love to zip it around. HELP! I forgot to add that my coil is roasting hot!!!!!

You can remove the ignitor and take it to about any auto parts store to be tested. Just be sure you have 12 volts to the coil cranking as they had ignition switch issues. It was also pretty common to have an ignitor go bad. It is usually cheaper to buy a rebuilt distributor than an ignitor.

Thank you for the reply. I checked all the parts stores around and none of them can check the, module or the ignitor. I am headed to a ford dealership, these are the same as a probe. I have a friend that works there as a line tech. By the way this ignitor is not in the distributor. It is mounted on the side of the coil. If I get a procedure for testing ether of these, I will post it in the forum. It would be a great help to a lot of people, i'm sure. Any more suggestions on my problem would be appriciated. Thanks in advance.

Well I went to my buddy at the ford dealership. The good news is that there is no good news. He said that there is no way to check any of the electrical related to spark except the coil. What they did was put a new coil and ignitor and a new distributor and away they went. Now let me inform you that this guy has worked in drivability at the same ford dealeship for 30 years. He knows what he is doing. If you know anything he doesn't let me know. He would be glad to hear it. [X(][&o][:-][][>:][:'(][:@][&:][8D]oh well life goes on and I will try his advice unless any of you have a better idea.

The ignitor can be removed and checked with an ignitor checker. The pickup can be checked with an ohm meter. You can hold a soldering iron up against the distributor and trigger the ignitor to check thedistributor ( a large one with a trigger) if you get spark the distributor is good.. Thats the quick test anyway.
