96 MX6 - 2.5L V6 - cold start issues!
Hi everyone,
I bought a 96 mx-6 mystere automatic, just a few months ago, and it only has 85,000 km on it. It was in excellent condition when I bought it (still is...but engine not so much). Over the past month or so, whenever I start it up cold (ie after sitting more than 6 hours or so) it turns over quite a few times, and then once started, has a terrible knocking noise, sort of like a bad sounding diesel... but once warmed up after about a 5 minute drive, at idle it is completely silent as usual. So the issue is mainly just with cold start up. Warm start up is fine, and sounds perfect... Could it be the timing belt making that knocking/rattle? I'm really worried because I absolutely LOVE the car!
Also, I tried replacing the rear brake pads, and the caliper wouldnt move back! Is there a certain technique I may not be aware of, or could those be hooped as well?!
Thanks,
Natalie
