RE: UPGRADE ENGINE
If you're looking power gains on the stock 2.0 4 cylinder, then you cant go very far, you can do basic cold air intake and can, but if you have about 900 bucks you can import a KLZE 2.5 liter V6 which will drop right in your car, the motor comes with an ECU and the cost covers shipping and handling, the stock KLZE puts out about 205 horse stock and around 183 lbs. feet of torque. the motor is damn near bullet proof so you wont kill it and they come from Japan with about 30,000 miles on them. the KLZE is the same as the KL03 2.5 found in most MX-6's but has triangular exhaust ports for enhanced flow and the intake manifold tubes are more curved and thats pretty much the only difference, ALL of the part between the 2 motors are compatible. I do not have a KLZE in my MX-6 but i do have the Intake manifold, walbro fuel injectors, fatter plug wires, NGK-Power plugs, BOMZ racing cold air intake, high flow cat from Tanabe Racing Development, and Tanabe Racing development can, Skunk 2 Coilover suspension, hood scoop, short shifter, and black window tint. i also have a Kenwood Excelon head unit with 6 kenwood speakers and 1000 watt KW amp and 1400 watt KW 12" woofer, Front and Rear strut braces and V-rated Pirelli's. This car although has added weight is very very very quick and fast. i have not raced too many people but i have raced a WRX Impreza turbo, a 1.8T jetta and an Avenger and i smoked each one, which is surprising. the KLZE is a good upgrade
