Default 00 protege won't start

ok here is what it is 2000 1.8l 16 valve protege. here is what it does or doesn't do for that matter. i replaced the module and coil pack assembly, plugs, and wires since a coil insert was burnt off. then the owner drove it away and it died the other day. i didn't hear the fuel pump running so i tested the power wire and nothing. so i figgered it was the goldang relay, which mazda can't get for a week. so i pulled the cap off and pushed in the contact and pump runs. ok this thing should start since there is spark, 130 or 140 psi compression, good fuel pressure, and the injector wires are pulsing. but it doesn't and i don't know where to start. any help would be appreciated. oh yeah, the spark plugs don't seem to be getting wet

Hmm, could be a bad module. It happens. Did you put an OEM one in it? It will not power the fuel pump or injectors without a spark signal.

no, i put in a carquest premium module/coil pack assembly. if it is shot from new then it won't trip the relay for fuel pump?

No it needs a spark signal to trigger the pump so if you have a front end collision and the key stays on but the engine dies it wont pump fuel.

it has good spark with this one and i hooked up the old one and it still dosen't fire. i'm wondering if the timing has slipped or something. you wouldn't think it would have good compression on all cylinders with a twin cam but i am not familiar with these overseas cars. what is a good starting point do you think from here, what should i check and test first and so on. i tried cleaning the mass air flow sensor and that didn't do it either. i'm struggling to get anywhere.
also i just pulled the fuel rail off and with the fuel pump relay tripped on and the pump running and i have got no gas squirting from the injectors. does something control both of those functions.
