Default 2000 mazda protege - Bumpy ride - Where to start

The best way to describe my issue is, when I drive my 2000 protege LX (90K miles) is as if it has tires made of wood. I can fell every crack on the road and its very bumpy. I took it to the mech and said shocks, mounts, struts need to be looked & changed.
Any advise would help.

I also have a 2000 protege I also found the ride very stiff. I had the suspension looked at and was told it is fine. I have since read a lot of reviews from 2000 and have found that stiff suspension was one common complaint among most reviewers

I have 2001 Protege and agree with puffinz, ride is very stiff because of sport suspension. If no body roll in corners and you can really push it thru the corner without too much drift (Keep it legal here) I'd say your good to go............. but......get a second opinion from a QUALIFIED mechanic before you do anything. good luck

You know what...I test drove today...very specifically on the cornors and I was seeing body roll...the vehicle jumped a littlebit and sprung back. I tried at a little bit lower speed and I was still seeing it. I asked my friend, and it happened with him.
So, let me know what u think

probably a good idea to get it looked at again then because I don't have any body roll weather going faster around a corner or slow.

Yes, I am in agreement w/puffinz, if it don't feel right....get it looked at by a reputable mechanic. The suspension is a sport type so you will feel bumps in road. The low profile tires do not help with the uneven road surface.

Proteges have very stiff sporty suspension. Its normal. Either that or your tires are inflated to much.
