2000 Mazda Protege P0106 Code
My awesome little Protege has 146,000 miles.I have cleaned the EGR valve, EGR boost sensor, EGR boost solenoid, and all related hoses and ports. Ialso squirted throttle body cleaner into the throttle body and replaced the air filter.
The EGR valve was nasty (carbon) and several of the small ports were clogged. An insufficient EGR flow error code was solved and a P0106 error code (manifold absolute/barometric pressure out of range) is now showing up. I am not sure how to check for vacuum. Do you think I should replace the EGR boost sensor and solenoid? If so, do you recommend a place to buy used (cheap) replacement parts? Should I use Mazda parts or are there Ford alternatives?
These parts new cost more than my car is worth. Also, I had a crack in my air intake hose that I have taped up tightly. Could that also be part of the problem?
Thanks for you help.

RE: 2000 Mazda Protege P0106 Code
I realized that I was not getting any vacuum on the hose attaching to the EGR Boost Solenoid so I removed the hose that attaches to the manifold in front of the EGR Valve. Using a small drill bit and drill, I drilled through the clogged port. I knew it was clogged because when I sprayed throttle body cleaner into it, it sprayed back at me. I immediately got vacuum, cleared the code two days ago, and so far so good. I had previously cleaned that port with a small nail and thought I was hitting bottom, when I was really only hitting where the carbon had hardened. I had previously cleaned the EGR Valve, EGR Boost Sensor, EGR Boost Solenoid, and related ports. Hopefully, my car will now pass inspection.
