2000 protege a bit stalling on 2nd gear
Hi there:
Nice forum going on here, I just changed the timing belt and water pump on my 120000 miles protege, and now I notice a bit of stalling when on my second gear, it kinds of hesitates and doesn't respond to gaz for a second or so. I am taking it back to the mechanic that performed work on it and would like to ask you if there is anything in particular to look for. I love my Protege, it gets me about 35 mpg and I do oil change every 6 weeks. Thanks for your help.

RE: 2000 protege a bit stalling on 2nd gear
Hi again:
I figured I come back with an updte hoping it will help someone someday. I took the car back to the Mechanic this afternoon andhere is what was performed on the car:
[ol][*]Spark plugs were changed, "the upper part was so thin" was the mechanic's remark[*]Wires changed[*]And what the Mechanic believe solved the stalling is changing the air filter!!! too much dirt was getting into some connection area. Sorry I am not familiar with engine's parts name.[*]Clean up of dirty residus[/ol]
I drove about 100 miles both highway and city and the car feels good. Oh yeah total price including taxes was $156.00.
Bye
