what does this mean?
Ok. The first thing to do when diagnosing a MAP Sensor code is to check ALL Vacuum lines for leaks.
See, the MAP Sensor reports info to the PCM.(an input sensor.) Good Manifold Vacuum is between 18-20 in.hg. Improper seals , faulty lines & hoses could/cause the engine to run poorly. The PCM always "assumes" the MAP reading is correct. Then it acts accordingly. If the PCM is getting Bad info...then the PCM will in turn, send out poor/wrong output to other systems.(i.e;fuel, ignition ect...)
Confirm if you have a vac leak. Usually a vac leak will also set a P0171 code.
One good test to perform is to test the Manifold Vac with a Vacuum Gauge.(about $30-$35 @ any parts store.)
If your Vac reading reads a steady 18-20 in.hg, move on.
A MAP Sensor fault is likely just that, a Sensor fault.
Before you go out and spend the Cash double check to make sure your map sensor is getting power from the PCM.(Rule out any electrical problem first.)
If the elec. checks out, Replace the MAP Sensor.
-that's what a pro would do....trust me."
