2002 Mazda Protegé5 Issues

Update!
So the mechanic had me drive the car home on Thursday to test drive it. The gears feel great. As for the pedal...he bled the line and adjusted it so it feels great now. The clutch isn't slipping at all. Problem......oil is still leaking. I didn't drive my car at all over the weekend due to it leaking. Took my car back into the shop on Monday and the mechanic put dye to see where the leak was coming from. Definitely from the transmission but he couldn't tell where it was coming from. He pulled my transmission out yesterday and took it over to a specialist. His update to me today was that where the leak is coming from is still not obvious so it might be a crack. WTH!!!! I will have had this car for a year in August and the car has extremely low mileage. Only 77,000. So what happens if the transmission is cracked?!!!!

Junk yards
Sorry to hear Nickey,
Man thats a bummer.
You could always get one from a junkyard and have it installed. the mechanic should help you locate one and i would assume he would in stall it. I'm curious as to how a transmisson cracks. doesnt seem like something that would happen on its own.
too bad you live in cali, or id help. i like a good "project". lol
I have been having some issues with mine as well. my e-brake isnt working really well, I'm afraid it will roll down a hill and hit another car or person. As long as its in gear it doesnt move, but when i push the clutch in to start it on a hill the e-brake doesnt have enough grip to hold the car from moving.
I also set out to change the fan switch witch is known for going bad. air only works on 1,3, and 4 right now. Got half the interior out yesterday before realizing the only way to get the switch out was to remove the dash. worked out good though, i needed to detail the interior really good anyway. i put it all back together, and will try again on saturday when i have more time to work on it.
gotta love cars,
again sorry to hear,
Jeromie

Ewe. Sorry about the ebrake. That's scarey. I found out yesterday that I need a new front casing. I guess when the pedal stuck to the floor, this little marble like part broken off and acted like a pin ball machine to my transmission. There's multiple cracks. Also I had my clutch checked since the tranny was out. Clutch has just started wearing. So its being replaced. Talk about fml! What do you do. Lol. I hope everything goes well with getting yours fixed!

Hey Nickey,
Hope you're making progress with the tranny. I got my e-brake fixed. all i had to do was lube the cable and readjust it inside the car where it meets the handle in the console. it took all of 5 minutes.
keep me posted on the clutch/tranny work. it'll be informative if and when i start having issues with mine.

I'm still without a car. I'm at a stand still because my mechanic said he can not find a front bell housing for my car. According to him, no one wants to part with one. They want to sell the whole tranny. He said the next step would be to buy a used transmission. I'm trying to do some research on the bell housing but I really don't know what I'm looking for. I keep researching the auto websites and it just seems like mumbo jumbo to me. I really wish I knew more about cars.
