2003 Protege ES - Low profile tire replacements?
Howdy everyone! New to this forum, looking for some advice.
I've got a 2003 Protege ES. It has the 15" low profile tires.
I currently have 3 bent steel wheels. I've bent one before and had it replaced. I suspect that the low profile tires aren't handling the potholes that we have around here very well.
Replacements are hard to find - the tire shop is quoting me $95 per wheel. Nobody seems to have them used. Also, this tire size is fairly limiting and expensive. So here is my question:
If I purchased some 14" wheels and tires for this vehicle, would they fit? I'm not sure if the rotors would fit inside and if the sides would rub or anything. It seems like it would provide more durability with potholes, better snow performance, and cheaper options for tire replacements.
My wife drives this car around with the kids, so I don't much care about cornering and speed handling.
Looking for any advice you guys can offer. Thanks!
Steve
