Default 95 Protege Headlight Failure

Hey guys,

Car is a 95' Protege DX.

About a week ago, my headlights would flash on and off when I flicked the turn signal, but only if I was flipping it up (turning right).

Now, they've seemed to totally fail. I can get them on, but I have to hold the turn signal just below its normal position (pretty much right before where it turns the left turning blinkers on).

In the normal position, they do not work. The headlights are not there.

I should note, that when the headlines come in and out, its the full night-lighting system (the dash lights come on/off, clock goes from dim to bright, etc.)

Does anyone have any ideas on this? I posted this on another forum and got the reply of that the dimmer portion of the turn signal assembly was shorting out, and the whole thing needed to be replaced, but when I searched Google for turning signal assembly, I couldn't find it?

Anyways, if anyone has an idea how to fix this I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

It is called a multi function switch that controls headlights, turn signals, and dimmer. Here is a LINK to the price for a new one, it is rather pricey. I might suggest a good used one from a salvage yard.
