Default 99 protege no brake lights or hazards

I recently changed my front brake pads. I noticed a couple of days later that my brake lights were not working. They may have been out before the pad change, My wife was driving it for a week before that. In checking things out I noticed the hazards are also not working. The tail lights, reverse lights, head lights, fog lights and turn signals are all functioning. I have replaced the lamps, the fuses, the hazard warning flasher, the stop light switch and the fuse box. There is power at the fuse, but not at the stop light switch. I also checked the green and yellow wire(the color of the wire at the switch) just outside of the fuse box and it is not getting power. I tried a new wire harness to the fuse box and the green/yellow wire still has no power. This makes no sense to me. I guess its possible that both wire harnesses are bad. Or is there some crazy mazda thing where the wire coming out of the fuse box is not the same color as the one at the switch? Any help would be amazing. I am ready to trash this car.

Tracing electrical problems is some times tricky.
Have you checked the resistance / continuity in the wires?
Did you make sure the ground connections are good?

There is a method of checking circuits called voltage drop test. Here is the best description of it that I could find: Voltage Drop Testing
